We’re excited to share that CTRC recently installed a bat box on our property! This small, carefully designed wooden structure provides safe roosting space for local bat populations.

Why bats? Bats are an important—and often overlooked—part of a healthy ecosystem. They help control insect populations, reducing the need for pesticides, and many species are key pollinators as well. A single bat can eat thousands of insects in one night, making them natural allies in keeping our land and herd more comfortable during the summer months.

By installing bat boxes, we’re creating a safe habitat for these fascinating creatures while also supporting the health of our environment. Just like our horses and riders, bats need the right resources and care to thrive—and we’re proud to play a role in that stewardship.

Keep an eye out at your next visit—you might just catch a glimpse of our newest “neighbors” heading out at dusk!
