Note: We are increasing our sponsorships levels to the below in October of 2025. At CTRC, the cost of caring for our herd has risen significantly in the past year, and our horse sponsorship rates are being updated to reflect these realities. Essential feeds such as Triple Crown Senior, balancer, rice bran, and Timothy pellets have increased by 14%, while veterinary medications and supplements for our aging herd continue to grow. Farrier expenses alone have gone up 55% since last year, with specialized care like glue-on shoes now costing $200 per set. On average, it now costs about $500 each month to provide one horse with the nutrition, veterinary care, and farrier support they need to stay healthy and serve our riders. We’ve made very few adjustments to sponsorship levels over the past eight years, but these changes will ensure that every horse at CTRC continues to receive the excellent care they deserve.

Be a Horse Hero
CTRC’s exceptional therapeutic riding horses grant wishes and bestow miraculous changes upon our riders and volunteers. That makes them, in our eyes, heroes everyday. We, in turn, invite you to be their hero. CTRC has three ways in which you can “Be a Horse Hero”.
Every horse in our herd is a partner in healing, courage, strength, and love. Sponsorships help cover their feed, supplements, routine and emergency veterinary care, farrier visits, chiropractors, physical therapists, and acupuncturists as needed, medication as needed, any specialized tack, and husbandry needs and overall daily support. By sponsoring a horse, you’re ensuring that they can continue to serve our riders with strength, health, and love to the best of their ability as they age gracefully in our programs.
SPONSOR
Sponsorship allows one to select an active, inactive or retired horse from which to sponsor. These funds, depending on the sponsorship level (see sidebar), are dedicated specifically to the care and needs of that horse.
Sponsorship can be paid as a single donation or via a monthly pledge. Sponsorship donations are tax deductible. Families or groups may choose to go together to sponsor a horse. Sponsors do not receive riding privileges or any rights of ownership; however, we do encourage Sponsors to set up a time to visit their sponsored friend!

ADOPTION
Adoption allows an individual or family to assume ownership and welcome a former therapy horse into their lives. CTRC diligently reviews, evaluates and selects the best fit adoptive home for each adoptable therapy horse. We will work with you directly to choose a horse that fits your lifestyle, facility and horse need.

FOSTER
Foster allows a retired program horse to live and be cared for at a carefully selected foster environment but remain in the ownership of CTRC. All expenses incurred for the care of the horse are the responsibility of the “Fosterer”; however, the expense of providing the care and the fostering of the horse is a tax-deductible donation.
