How long have you been volunteering for?
I came on board in 2019.
What inspired you to start volunteering at CTRC?
I have background as a horse wrangler, working for an outfitter in the Colorado mountains, many years ago. A friend who was aware, and had a horse at CTRC, thought I might enjoy the time with the horses.
What is your favorite part of volunteering with us?
Way beyond the proximity to horses. I have found much pleasure in connecting with our riders, sharing their delight as they accomplish things, great and small. The volunteers, and staff at CTRC inspire me every visit with their commitment to our participants.
What would you say to someone considering volunteering here?
You will be amazed at people”s ability to overcome challenges when they partner with a horse. Be prepared to be lifted up by our riders, our horses and the CTRC Team. Time incredibly well spent.
Who is your favorite horse?
After a rocky courtship, Tonks (Honky Tonk), and I have a great relationship. All of the horses that I have worked with have unique personalities, and amaze me with their patience.
What do you like to do in your free time outside of CTRC?
I like to spend my time on the trails in the mountains, among the trees, by the creeks. I enjoy local live music.
