1. How long have you been volunteering at CTRC?
I have been volunteering at CTRC since June 2022 when I moved to Colorado.
2. What inspired you to start volunteering at CTRC?
My love for animals inspired my awareness of CTRC. I had been volunteering at Guide Dogs of America (GDA) in California and expanded my interest from guide dogs to horse therapy.
3. What is your favorite part of volunteering with us?
It is no surprise to many that I love driving the tractor and fixing things. Being a lead for the horses during class & working with the clients is very rewarding as well. In general, I enjoy the wide range of tasks I get to do at CTRC. From mowing, mucking, grooming, harrowing, and spreading manure, to working directly with the horses, I like all the opportunities I’m afforded at CTRC.
4. What would you say to someone considering volunteering here?
Don’t hesitate, you will not be disappointed. Volunteering at CTRC is very rewarding. The staff is fantastic. The volunteers work as a team and support each other. You will feel a sense of camaraderie.
5. What do you like to do outside of your time at CTRC?
I love spending time with our 2 dogs; Simba, a yellow lab and Oakley, a lab golden X, both from GDA and camping with them. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, and having doggie play dates with all the dogs and friends we have met in CO through GDA and other service dog organizations. My time with Lucky (a bull) at Luvin Arms Animal Sanctuary is super special.
